DetailsTried to print recently, after not tying to print of a month or so(it worked before).
now i get this msg: "Filter "rastertogutenprint.5.0" for printer "kris_printer" not available: No such file or directory in both localhost:631/printers/ display and in gnome print dialog and i can't print.. I've tried recompiling all the print related packages on my system as well as well as updating them to the latest version but it doesn't work. kris ~ $ p -Ql gutenprint|grep raster gutenprint /usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertogutenprint.5.2 doing sudo ln -s /usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertogutenprint.5.2 /usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertogutenprint.5.0 gives me a new error msg in "The PPD version (139486927) is not compatible with Gutenprint 5.2.1." EDIT: deleted the /usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertogutenprint.5.0 link, and just did as outlined here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=46091 and then it worked.. It should be noted that i have an epson printer and the poster in that thread had an HP so this problem seems to be general. Therefore perhaps a msg posted to install() telling people they might have to readd their printer and restart cups to be able to print might be a good idea.. |

Reason for closing: Not a bug
Additional comments about closing: see pacman post_install msg that solves 98% of that issues. anyway readding the printer seems to be necessary for certain printers but not in general. shouldn't be a big deal.

post_install() {
echo ">>please run /usr/sbin/cups-genppdupdate"
echo ">>and restart cups deamon"
}
post_upgrade() {
post_install
}
Does running cups-genppdupdate fix your problem also?
