I'm moving our official Arch mirror from http://holmes.umflint.edu/archlinux to a new server and need to reflect the changes to the Arch community. http://archlinux.umflint.edu/mirrors/archlinux ( i should have this up and running withing a couple days)

Also, i'm rsyncing from mirrors.easynews.com/mirrors/linux/archlinux which i'm up to date with. However, i'm getting emails saying i'm 13 days out of date. Where should i be rsyncing from to stay current?
This task depends upon

Hi, i'm the email writer ;-)

I think your cronjob or whatever is hanging (most problem on other mirrors).
Currently http://holmes.umflint.edu/archlinux has last synced at: Fri Sep 26 00:01:07 UTC 2008. This date comes from a file lastsync in each repo which is updated each hour on archlinux server. So we could see when the last sync (include lastsync file) was made.

The mirror ftp://mirrors.easynews.com/linux/archlinux has lastsync files from: Tue Oct 14 00:01:06 UTC 2008. If your sync from this mirror were full done than you should have this lastsync file too (content is linuxtime stamp).
Or your rsync job doesn't update the lastsync file (but all other files are updated).

Here you could see the mirror status: http://users.archlinux.de/~gerbra/mirrorcheck.html

I've done a rsync from mirror.cs.vt.edu and want to stay as up to date as possible. Should i use ftp.archlinux.org as my rsync or what do you recommend?

Also, http://holmes.umflint.edu/archlinux needs to be changed to http://archlinux.umflint.edu when i'm done. I'm in the process of getting rsync into a cronjob and afterthat it'll be ready for public usage.

You may use rsync.archlinux.org if you provide the IP address that the rsync requests will be coming from so we may whitelist it.

wiki, archweb updated.

archlinux.umflint.edu resolves to 141.216.3.86 - if you can whitelist 141.216.3.0 incase the ip changes that would be great.

Thanks,

K

Pacman mirrorlist updated locally.

Currently there seems no httpd running on the new host, ICMP works.
Is this mirror move already done or is there a time plan?
Comment by Harrison (kanon) - Tuesday, 04 November 2008, 16:41 GMT
The new Arch mirror is up and running (with port 80 now open) and set to rsync to rsync.archlinux.org every 2 hours(is this OK or do you prefer something different?)

The new mirror is http://archlinux.umflint.edu
The old mirror is http://holmes.umflint.edu/archlinux - I'll leave this up and running until Friday(Nov 7) and then shut it down.

141.216.3.86 added to rsync allow list. If the IP changes, let us know and we'll adjust.

pacman-mirrorlist still has the old URL-Path:
Server = http://archlinux.umflint.edu/mirrors/archlinux/$repo/os/x86_64
Should be:
Server = http://archlinux.umflint.edu/$repo/os/x86_64

Not sure if this is a valid reopen or not. How often are we planning on pushing out the mirrorlist package?
Comment by Dan McGee (toofishes) - Tuesday, 17 February 2009, 23:54 GMT
I apparently half-assed this change, so its a valid re-open. I'm updating it in the web interface now, I'd like to very soon move to a pacman-mirrorlist package being built from that automagically.
