Hi, gnome-terminal has several of it's config files in ~/.gconf/apps/gnome-terminal
I'm not 100% sure, but I think only gconfd has is supposed to write to that directory, which would mean that gnome-terminal depends on gconf.

Currently gconf is not listed as a dependency for gnome-terminal 2.22.3-1.

Additional comments about closing:  gconf is pulled in as a dependency of libgnomeui, which depends on gconf.
