Hello!
Can someone add support for console maps (setfont '-m' parameter) to init scripts? Something like this:

if [ "$CONSOLEMAP" != "" ]; then
CONSOLEMAP_P="-m $CONSOLEMAP"
fi
for i in `seq 1 12`; do
/usr/bin/setfont $CONSOLEMAP_P $CONSOLEFONT -C /dev/vc/${i};

And this not work when /etc/issue begins with \033c

Hi Alexei,

What doesn't work? The map doesn't load, or /etc/issue just isn't displayed properly?
Comment by Alexei (kaaos) - Monday, 14 March 2005, 08:23 GMT
The map is loaded, but /etc/issue breaks it. When i remove from /etc/issue \033c, then all works fine.
Sorry, write in English hard for me :(.

New /etc/issue should fix that as it does not contain \033c anymore.

What version of initscripts do you have? As I remember this was fixed near version -21.

Sorry, I can't say what version of initscripts I have, because I'm on Debian now.
But according to CVS log, CONSOLEMAP parameter has been introduced
in version 1.25 , 2005/03/11. I mean CVS version of file /etc/rc.conf.

If you say that removing \033c from /etc/issue helps you then the problem should be fixed now.
Have you updated your initscripts?

initscripts-0.7.1-24 [testing] and initscripts-0.7.1-23 [current] (and few versions older) works fine. \033c in old /etc/issue resets terminal so this sequence breaks your console. With recent localization fixes this was replaced with \033[H which clears screen but does not resets terminal.
