Description:

When I launch the Gnome properties (menu "Erscheinungsbild" in German), the process ends in an endless loop with a processor load of 100%. Closing the window will not help. In the most cases a killall -15 gnome-appearance-properties gets the system back to normal processor load. In some cases not even a X restart helps. Sometimes I had to reboot. The other system menues seem to not cause such a behaviour.

Just open the gnome menu. In the german Gnome it's "System->Einstellungen->Erscheinungsbild".

Sorry, can't reproduce that over here. Do you have any 3rd party theme packages installed that could trigger this bug?

Actually no 3rd party theme packages. The only gnome themes I have installed are:

extra/gnome-themes 2.22.2-1 [installed]
Default themes for GNOME2

First of all I thought it has something to do with Emerald or Compiz-Fusion but I can reproduce this behaviour on my old machine too where I does not have Emerald, Compiz-Fusion, or something like that. The problem is also viewable on my sister's computer. So I have 3 different computers with the same problem. Hard to believe that it's my fault 3 times.

Can you attach strace to the running process to see what it is doing?

Sure. This is the output from executing gnome-appearance-properties. After the window appeared I closed it with pressing the X-Button. After that the load process rised up to 100% again.

I've got 100% load due to epiphany a couple of times in the similar situation (i.e. after closing the window)

I prefer to not use such a big environment like gnome from testing, because I'm afraid of unstable behaviour, but when a new version is out, I promise you to report if the problem still exist or not.
