Description:
I'm experiencing a bug described here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160748 (exactly what is reported there about open/save kig files)
From discussion there I conclude that this might be packaging issue.

(I had kdemod installed for some time, but now it's completely removed -- could that affect kde4?)

Additional comments about closing:  This was allready fixed in trunk. I just did not rebuild every KDE package because there will be 4.1.2 in tow days.

For now just run update-mime-database /usr/share/mime
