Details

There is no PAM file delivered in /etc/pam.d by xscreensaver-4.16-2 package:
$ pacman -Ql xscreensaver | grep pam
xscreensaver /etc/pam.d/

Moreover, running startx:
...
xscreensaver: warning: /etc/pam.d/xscreensaver does not exist.
xscreensaver: password authentication via PAM is unlikely to work.
