DetailsDescription:
x11vnc does not come with a daemon script in /etc/rc.d . Since x11vnc is probably used almost exclusively as a daemon, this would be very useful. Attached is a sample script, the one I wrote for myself. There are many options for x11vnc, but the majority of them can probably be kept as I have them. (I chose "medium" severity since I believe that this falls under "UNIX standard not respected".) |

Reason for closing: Implemented
Additional comments about closing: implemented in x11vnc-0.9.6-1. The daemon script use a /etc/conf.d/x11vnc config file where users can specify options.

x11vnc connects to a running X server, how does this script connect and authorize to the X server?
> VNC_CMD="x11vnc -display :0 -bg -nopw -localhost -ncache 10 -forever -o /var/log/x11vnc.log"
It connects to local display 0, -nopw specifies that it is not to prompt for a password on connection. I use that since I only run it on localhost (hence -localhost) and have no need for VNC's pathetic excuse for password authentication.
One thing I don't have, though, in the script is any sort of "touch /var/run/x11vnc.pid".
