I noticed that upgrading initscripts changed the arch version on the bootup messages, but did not change it on the logon screen. After some looking around, I found that this is caused by the fact that the arch version the logon screen reads from is in /etc/arch-release, while it is also hard-coded into /etc/rc.sysinit . The version information should be consolidated to /etc/arch-release ONLY, and have rc.sysinit read the value in from that file, thus avoiding potential mixups.
