Works fine here, what errors do you get in console? Using just "su" gives error messages about gconf, using "su -" gives no errors at all.

When i try to start nautilus in console as root i get the following:

(nautilus:7189): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager:
Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed.

Nautilus starts as user and not as root. When i try "su -" it starts as root (normally).

This is because the root user can connect to the orbit daemon since 2.14.14. Previous versions didn't have access to it. As nautilus is a single-instance application, it just launches another nautilus window. I don't consider this a bug.
