Description:
Recently special keys stopped working with sonata (altough they still work with totem, for instance).
Also now is possible to have two processes of sonata running simultaneous. It's probably not directly related with sonata as I didn't update it recently.

Steps to reproduce (1st problem):
1) Open Sonata
2) Press some special key, as play, next, previous, etc

Steps to reproduce (2nd problem):
1) Open Sonata.
2) Open Sonata again and realize there are two sonatas running :P

It appears to be related with Pygtk.

I cant reproduce this bug. I am using:

sonata 1.5.2-1
pygtk 2.12.1-1

Can someone reproduce and confirm this?

I cant reproduce too. I'm using sonata 1.5.2-1 and pygtk 2.12.1-1. All buttons works, inclusive my laptop multimedia keys.

I can reproduce and confirm this bug. I´m using sonata 1.5.2-1 and pygtk 2.12.1-1.
None of my multimedia keys work in Sonata.

I tried in another machine and couldnt reproduce it again. Any tips?
Comment by João Vieira (Vieira) - Friday, 12 September 2008, 14:34 GMT
I must confess I'm a bit lost. My multimedia keys work in Totem but not in Sonata. I think it can be related with python since Sonata depends on it but I have Sonata and all of its dependencies installed.
BTW can you reproduce the second problem? (having two sonata open at the same time)
I don't know how to give you more tips. It worked here and then stopped working.
Comment by Kessia Pinheiro (even) - Friday, 12 September 2008, 14:36 GMT
I can't reproduce any of the problems. All works fine here. Including my arch64 box.

Oops: If I install dbus-python it works. Maybe that package should be added as a dependency. For me, it's solved.
Comment by João Vieira (Vieira) - Friday, 12 September 2008, 14:39 GMT
Both problems are related with dbus-python.
Comment by Hugo Doria (hdoria) - Friday, 12 September 2008, 14:42 GMT
I do have dbus-python. Probably we should add it to depends. I will wait some hours for Alexander (hes the maintainer). If he do not update it, i will.

Thank you for the help.
Comment by Alexander Fehr (pizzapunk) - Friday, 12 September 2008, 15:02 GMT
There's a post install message about dbus-python being an optional dependency. But I have to admit it's not very clear. Maybe this message could be made more precise (besides using optdepends instead of it).
Comment by Ricardo Rodrigues (Ricksa) - Friday, 12 September 2008, 16:06 GMT
Well it´s resolved here after installing dbus-python, I agree about possibly making the post install message more detailed so that we know what its function is and thus avoiding these types of confusions.
Comment by Hugo Doria (hdoria) - Friday, 12 September 2008, 17:04 GMT
Just add dbus-python to optdepends. Seens to be the best way to fix this.
Comment by Alexander Fehr (pizzapunk) - Friday, 12 September 2008, 17:37 GMT
I will add optdepends instead of the install message with a new release of sonata. Until then I will leave the bug open as a reminder.

Altough dbus-python is installed problem started again after sonata update.

It's solved now after the released updates.

Now (Feb 15) if dbus-python is installed multimedia keys stop working. If I remove dbus-python it works again (altough it's not a solution as dbus-python is a dependency of other packages).
