The new jack package has an error in it's rc.d script. When I tried /etc/rc.d/jack-audio-connection-kit start, it gave me this error.
/etc/rc.d/jack-audio-connection-kit start
/etc/rc.d/jack-audio-connection-kit: line 15: syntax error near unexpected token `fi'
/etc/rc.d/jack-audio-connection-kit: line 15: ` fi'

Removing the "fi" in line 15 fixed it.

It also gives me this error, when I stop it, even though it gets stopped.

/etc/rc.d/jack-audio-connection-kit: line 40: 3979 segment violation /usr/bin/jackd $SERVER_PARAMS -d $DRIVERPARAMS >&/dev/null

Hm, that first error is really stupid, no excuses! But it never threw some errors on non of my boxes. Strange! Also the variables name is DRIVER_PARAMS not DRIVERPARAMS. I never looked closer since it always worked for me.

As for the second issue, I'm not able to reproduce that here. I will make a new package with the first two mentioned issues fixed but leave the bug open. Please test the new one and report here.
thanks, tobbi

Changing DRIVERPARAMS to DRIVER_PARAMS fixed the second error.

My mistake, it still (in the second package) gives me the second error. Don't know what it might be.

Ok, the first part is done, I still can't reproduce the other error with the segment violation. Maybe if you have a second box you can try it there. It's also possible, that your soundcard is incompatible with one of the setting, which are standard, from the file in /etc/conf.d
Could you try to run the jackserver manually with the values like
jackd -d alsa -d hw:0 -p 1024 and stop it with Ctrl-C
thanks tobbi

Is there something new on the frontline? Does anyone else has issues here?

no one replied on that issue anymore and it has not been the readline stuff since this bug is older. I close with won't fix.
