DetailsDescription:
kernel26 and nvidia don't play nicely together. updating kernel26 and nvidia causes the system to lock up with no responsiveness at all, forcing a hard reboot at the power button to continue. several individuals on IRC are claiming to have the same issue with different nvidia versions. I'm unable to provide any further debugging output at this time. Additional info: * package version(s) kernel26 2.6.26.2-1 nvidia 173.14.12-2 * config and/or log files etc. Steps to reproduce: use kernel26 and nvidia startx fire up your favorite term use a GL application. for example: glxgears glxinfo mplayer -vo gl etc.. |
This task depends upon
made a copy of the nvidia folder from extra
rebuilt it
pacman -U nvidia-<tab> and installed it.
it gave me an error about needing to stop X and unprobe the module manually.
exited X, sudo rmmod nvidia (no such module in /etc/modules..)
pacman -U nvidia-<tab> and reinstalled it
sudo modprobe nvidia
startx
it works just fine now :)
