Details
I could not yet confirm this bug on multiple PC's due to no
responses in the IRC chatroom.
I'm using a non-testing-preferred version of archlinux that runs on the generic kernel. When starting nscd -d, some of the output is as follows. This output goes on forever. The characters keep differing on each run. So there's a bug in here somewhere, and since this is glibc and I don't know where it comes from, i marked it as critical. # nscd -d 23846: handle_request: request received (Version = 2) from PID 23855 23846: GETFDHST 23846: provide access to FD 8, for hosts 23846: handle_request: request received (Version = 2) from PID 23855 23846: GETFDSERV 23846: provide access to FD 10, for services 23846: handle_request: request received (Version = 2) from PID 23855 23846: GETSERVBYPORT (ý·) 23846: Haven't found "ý·" in services cache! 23846: handle_request: request received (Version = 2) from PID 23855 23846: GETSERVBYPORT (跸·/tcp) 23846: Haven't found "跸·/tcp" in services cache! 23846: handle_request: request received (Version = 2) from PID 23855 23846: GETSERVBYPORT (跸/tcp) 23846: Haven't found "跸/tcp" in services cache! 23846: handle_request: request received (Version = 2) from PID 23855 23846: GETSERVBYPORT (¿0Ȁ/tcp) 23846: Haven't found "¿0Ȁ/tcp" in services cache! |

Once again, nothing to do with pacman... Please watch where you
file bugs.
Yes, I tried to reach you on IRC. Apologies. :)
what is PID 23855? I don't think this is a bug in nscd, but a bug
in an application asking repeated times for corrupted service
names.
You got me. I think there was a badly configured nsswitch.conf.
This bug may be closed... as obviously I was in error.
