adding e.g. irssi to the install cd might be handy when someone needs support while installing.

irssi is 3MB though

maybe epic4, it only needs 890kb

Additional comments about closing:  LiveCD makes it easy to "pacman -S irssi" when booted.

telnet/netcat is usable as an IRC client, but only if you have a profound understanding of the protocol, which most people don't.
