DetailsDescription: The linux ascii/uft8 keyboard mode is per virtual console, but rc.sysinit only invokes kbd_mode once, thus initializing vc0 only. Putting kbd_mode -a|-u < /dev/vc/{$i} in the vc init loops should do the trick.
Following the archlinux init logic, maybe a kbd_mode should also be put into locale.sh (with a check that we're running on a vc, of course). Additional info: * package version(s): initscripts-2008.05-1 * config and/or log files etc. /etc/rc.sysinit Steps to reproduce: switch to non-utf8 locale, boot, login and run kbd_mode. On vc0 it'll say 'ascii', on subsequent vc's - 'utf8'. |
