DetailsDescription:
I think the recent upgrade of Xorg (1.4.0.90-13 -> 1.4.2-1) has broken something for ATI fglrx. Whenever a wine or crossover application is launched the entire desktop becomes garbled beyond recognition, though restarting X fixes the problem. It doesn't seem to matter which kind of application is loaded--Photoshop, Fireworks MX, Half-Life 2 or even the Crossover Preferences window itself will cause corruption. I'm not 100% certain it was the Xorg-server update as I don't have the previous package handy. However, neither fglrx nor wine/crossover had been updated when the problem started so it seems the likely culprit. Maybe some other fglrx users are experiencing the same? Additional info: * xorg-server 1.4.2-1 * http://dotfiles.org/~thayer/xorg.conf (Extra options for the fglrx driver have been commented out) The attached screenshot is actually much better than it appears in person. The windows and panels are actually garbled beyond legibility. |

Reason for closing: Upstream
Additional comments about closing: It's an upstream issue with ATI and we can't fix what we can't see.
Closed source drivers suck.

I just wasn't sure it was isolated to the fglrx driver, but after some googling it does look that way, so......I'm closing this.
