In that file the following code can be found:

modprobe $mod > /dev/null 2>&1
params="-g $governor"
if [ $? -eq 0 ]; then

This is obviously an error since the "if" statement is supposed to test modprobe's exit code. Please change to:

modprobe $mod > /dev/null 2>&1
if [ $? -eq 0 ]; then
params="-g $governor"
