DetailsDescription:
My keyboard is not working this is a new install on a laptop compaq presario F756NR notebook PC Additional info: * package version(s) I am using the nvidia 173.14.09-4 driver * config and/or log files etc. /etc/xorg.conf /var/log/xdm.log Steps to reproduce: When I run xdm the login screen shows up the mouse moves, but typing does not produce anything it just sits there as if I did not have no keyboard. The xdm log file says the following also a similar error can be found in the Xorg.0.log file about the kbd module (==) Log file: "/var/log/Xorg.0.log", Time: Sat Jul 12 12:36:13 2008 (==) Using config file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf" (EE) Failed to load module "type1" (module does not exist, 0) (EE) Failed to load module "kbd" (module does not exist, 0) (WW) NVIDIA: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:0:1:3) found (II) Module "ramdac" already built-in (EE) No Input driver matching `kbd' When I take a look at my xorg.conf file I dont see no kbd under the input device for keyboard; I have tried changing the driver from keyboard to kbd but that does not fix the problem. Also I have tried many xorg.conf files 1. Created by hwd -xa does not work either with nvidia or vesa driver 2. Created by the nvidia utility does not work 3. Create by Xorg -configure does not work they all show they screen, but mouse does not work I have installed all the packages I believe I need |

You should install the drivers you're using. The error log says you don't have the kbd driver installed, which is in xf86-input-keyboard.
