multiple people have told me that they don't understand why pacman isn't upgrading their system when there's a file conflict error. I guess the error: line can scroll of the screen if there's more than a couple conflicts?

maybe in the case of file conflicts (and other similar errors, if any) pacman could report:

errors occurred, system state not changed. (or something similar at the very bottom).
