GCC 4.2 introduces a new -march option, -march=native, which automatically detects the features the CPU supports and sets the options appropriately. Since current GCC in Arch is 4.3.1, makepkg.conf may ship with CFLAGS="-march=native -O2 -pipe" CXXFLAGS=${CFLAGS} as default. Additional comments about closing: Won't implement. We don't want to build native packages for a distribution that is supposed to be i686 or x86_64 generic.
