It's the very same here, CPU at 100%.

I don't have these problems myself (I don't know why) but the problems are known upstream.

The 100% CPU use seems to be related to xulrunner 1.9: http://liferea.blogspot.com/2008/07/serious-problems-with-xulrunner-19.html
Crash on exit: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=2017269&group_id=87005&atid=581684

They'll probably make a new release once they figured them out. Still, I'll look if there are patches out there.

Is it fixed in liferea 1.4.18-2? If not, try liferea-webkit in AUR. It use webkit instead of xulrunner so it might work.
Comment by Maximilien Cuony (the_glu) - Sunday, 24 August 2008, 18:04 GMT
Not fixed in 1.4.18-2. liferea-webkit is not buildable (libwebkit missing...)
Comment by Eric Belanger (Snowman) - Sunday, 24 August 2008, 18:22 GMT
libwebkit has recently been moved from testing to extra. Probably your mirror hasn't synced yet.

Yop, now it's works.

I will use liferea-webkit for some days and tell you if the problem still occur...
Comment by Maximilien Cuony (the_glu) - Sunday, 31 August 2008, 14:38 GMT
Yes it's works. But it's very buggy ;)

Is it still an issue in liferea 1.4.24-1?
Comment by Maximilien Cuony (the_glu) - Sunday, 08 February 2009, 10:55 GMT
Yes
Comment by Eric Belanger (Snowman) - Tuesday, 14 April 2009, 01:28 GMT
Try liferea-1.4.28-1. There was a fix for 100% CPU usage.

Version 1.4.28 (Stable)

* Adds a possible fix for the 100% CPU issues by settings
places.frecency.updateIdleTime to 0.
