DetailsDescription:
Last week I tried to install Arch-linux after writing the ISO to a cd. All went well, until I had to select the packages. I selected CD as my source. Then an error popped up saying "Failed to mount /dev/sr0" .Then, I dont know why, but I wrote the same ISO to a DVD and voila, it worked perfectly. I tried the same thing on 3 other CDs and DVDs and the same results. Somehow, it seems that the DVD drive is unable to accept the ISO written to a CD. I thought it might be a problem only with my dvd drive, but I was able to replicate the results on 2 other dell computers( Dell XPS M1530 and Dell Optiplex GX620 ). I had tried manually mounting when I used the CD, but it failed. Additional info: * package version(s) 2007.08-2 Don't Panic * config and/or log files etc. Steps to reproduce: Try writing the ISO to a CD and installing. |
This task depends upon
2007.08-2 Don't Panic shouldnt be used for installations anymore.
