1. Fetch abs
2. Enter /var/abs/extra/pidgin directory
3. Edit PKGBUILD and remove --disable-meanwhile option
4. Build
Oh, whats that? Meanwhile is nowhere to be found in the official repositories? That is why I can't compile it in by default, but that is also why ABS and the AUR exist.
