DetailsDescription:
Whatever menu Openbox displays the first time it is run, it will display forevermore, regardless of attempts to edit menu.xml. So, if it is started without the default menu.xml, it will *always* display the fallback menu, with pcmanfm, xterm, firefox, and obconf; if it is started with the default menu.xml, it will always display that, even if stuff is added to or removed from the menu.xml file. The "Reload Config Files" menu option (or whatever it is called in the current menu) does not do anything whatsoever; the impact on Openbox's usability is very severe, as no new applications, pipe menus, etc. can be added to the root menu at all. Additional info: * openbox 3.4.7.2-1 Steps to reproduce: 1. Install Openbox. Start an openbox (or openbox-lxde) session *without* moving /etc/xdg/menu.xml to .config/openbox. You should see a fallback menu on right-clicking. 2. Move menu.xml to .config/openbox. 3. Reconfigure or restart Openbox. You will still see the fallback menu, even though its contents are quite different from what's in menu.xml. Alternatively... 1. Install Openbox and move /etc/xdg/openbox contents to .config/openbox. 2. Start Openbox. 3. Add a new menu, pipe, item, etc. to .config/openbox/menu.xml. 4. Restart or reconfigure Openbox. Your new item will not be displayed in the root menu. |

Hmm, it's looking like this is a bug in lxde-common rather than Openbox... crap.
