"displaying an error" sounds a little vague..
Also what does the mirror have to do with that part of the installation?

I forgot to write the error message, but it was something involving "chroot" (sorry I don't recall)
"what does the mirror have to do with that part of the installation?"
I don't know, but I used the same CD, on the same computer, partitions were correctly wrote. All the packages were redownloaded during the second installation. I have no clue on what went wrong.
I remember a discussion where someone was talking about empty config files with the old iso, I can't find it anymore, that's why I opened this bug report.
I'll try to find another harddrive and to get this problem again, please let me know if there is something I must check and paste here...

Arch installed on another computer today with mir.archlinux.fr, I must try a new installation on the same computer to see if it is just bad luck or something more serious...

Sounds a bit too hit-and-miss to nail down. If you can reproduce the bug and get the exact error message somehow, that'd help the most. I looked at the code in this area of the installer and while I couldn't find any obvious things that might cause this, the code is a bit convoluted so it's easy to miss something.

Removed from RC blockers since this might be a one-time sort of bug.

What's the status of this issue?

Sorry, I forgot to reply. Installation with 2008.06 iso and mir.archlinux.fr was ok on the same hardware.
