Can you please post the full error messages that appear? Have you tried recreating your initcpio using mkinitcpio -p kernel26?
Comment by Ray Clancy (lilsirecho) - Tuesday, 17 June 2008, 22:33 GMT
My posting is mainly in regard to the fact that /sbin/lilo -v was successful and I still get kernel panic....This is supposed to be impossible!!!

I have not tried any messing with mkinitcpio since I should have the same as was present on the previous upgrade....if that statement is not true, the upgrade has to forewarn users with lilo that such is required...I read the info available and found nothing to prevent lilo from handling the upgrade as has been the case for years.

I will post the error message at a later time.

Can you attach /boot/kernel26.img please?

The relevant part of /var/log/pacman.log would be good as well.

[2008-06-02 09:42] The "password" column in /etc/crypttab has now
[2008-06-02 09:42] two special keywords:

[2008-06-02 09:42] - SWAP use a random key and create swapspace
[2008-06-02 09:42] This is particularly dangerous, as the

[2008-06-02 09:42] If you use SWAP as your passphrase (which

The kernel26.img failed to build, so now you have an initcpio for an old kernel. Rerunning mkinitcpio (as asked before) will most likely fix the problem, but still interesting why the image failed to build.
Comment by Ray Clancy (lilsirecho) - Sunday, 29 June 2008, 16:50 GMT
A message appears during the /sbin/lilo -v display which claims that the kernel doesn't have device-mapper.

Is this a new change to kernel 2.6.25?
