Description: After upgrading grub-gfx 0.97-7 -> 0.97-8 the grub menu is not displayed (just a blank screen with a blinking cursor). However the system boots properly after waiting until the timeout or pressing enter (so it seems it's only problem with displaying the menu).

During the boot letters on the screen are very distorted. The distortions disappear later during the boot, and the system works properly.

Downgrading grub-gfx back to 0.97-7 solves the problems.

Hi,

Did you run:

grub-install /dev/sdX

Where X is the disc you want to update grub.

There ? Here it worked great. I did not change anything in the compilation, just changed the background image, nothing more.

I run

install-grub /dev/hdc /dev/hdc6

but I think this command do the same thing.

Ah, now I see!

The 0.97-7 contained two splash images: splash.xpm.gz and arch.xpm.gz, and I used the latter, while only the first is included in 0.97-8.

Anyway - strange behavior, no errors, just blank screen - but that's not your fault, I guess.

Maybe it would be nice to put at least symbolic link to the splash.xpm.gz file for people who use the second image in their configuration?
