since the new initscripts package, I haven't got those messages (Stopping network ... [Done]) anymore on shutdown, only the "broadcast from root... system going down for shutdown" or something like that is shown. The shutdown process appears to function like it should, but no messages are shown... I halt my machine by doing "sudo halt" in a terminal (mostly from within an openbox session). The messages do appear when I start/stop a daemon manually (e.g. sudo /etc/rc.d/network restart). Additional info: * package version(s) initscripts 2008.05-1 Steps to reproduce: I get it when I shut down my machine like described above, I have no idea how to troubleshoot this to get more descriptive information but I'll be happy to follow directions to do so if someone else does. |

Regardless, this has to be due to some combination of framebuffer/video drivers on your machine. I bet if you DON'T boot into X at all, it will work as it always did
