This is mostly likely an upstream bug. I see you are using a laptop, Acer TravelMate 6000. Have you tried a custom DSDT for your laptop?
Comment by János Illés (ijanos) - Friday, 13 June 2008, 14:21 GMT
Not even heard about DSDT until this point, so no not really. This machine runs linux since the fall of 2005, mostly ubuntu but a few live distro as well and arch since a few months. I _never_ had any kernel nor apci related problems. Thats why i think its something about udev in my initramfs.
Could this caused by the SLmodem winmodem hosted on the audio chip?

Can you try with newer kernel releases, 2.6.25.6 (is in core), 2.6.25.7 and 2.6.26-rc6? The latter ones you'll have to build yourself.
Comment by János Illés (ijanos) - Wednesday, 18 June 2008, 09:44 GMT
Sure. I will start poking around in few days, but first i have pass a few exams :)

ps: i've already tried 2.6.25.6 and its the same, boot process stalls somewhere in the udev hook
I can only restart the machine with a hardreset. Is there any good way to debug whats really happening? (eg: something step by step)

Can you try blacklisting the ACPI modules? And keep track which ones you've disabled to figure out which one is hanging.
Comment by János Illés (ijanos) - Thursday, 19 June 2008, 13:48 GMT
I think the udev autoloads them, how can i found out which ones udev autoload?
Comment by János Illés (ijanos) - Thursday, 19 June 2008, 14:20 GMT
Okey, it is really seems like an upstream bug. I messed up by boot, so i booted into a systemrescuecd to chroot. The latest sysresccd with 2.6.25 wont boot on my machine, boot process stalls at loading sl811 sl811-hcd usb mass storage module.
Comment by János Illés (ijanos) - Thursday, 19 June 2008, 15:08 GMT
If i boot with acpi=off sl811-cd module is not loaded in the booted system. If i load it manually with modprobe, nothing happens.

after changing udev hook to modload the machine boots up fine and acpi works well too.
