Details

PackageKit is a project which aim to unify package managing and it's API in different distros. The whole description of packagekit is on http://packagekit.org/pk-intro.html.

It would be great integrate packagekit with arch linux, but it requires to write the backend for pacman.

So write a backend. Archlinux already has a package manager, and we're not interested in working on it when we have many many other things to work on, and obviously prefer our own package manager.

Any one is welcome to implement a backend. Join the pacman-dev mailing list.

Sorry, I have just found that pacman backend is aready under developing. But it's called alpm, as you know this is name of library used by pacman.
