The patch named xorg-server-1.4-git20080227.patch contains this patch, among others:

- xv->num_valuators = num_valuators;
+ xv->num_valuators = ((num_valuators - i) > 6) ? 6 : (num_valuators - i);

This is incorrect, and doesn't help as much as it could. The current GIT contains the correct patch (well, I am too lazy to diff it, so this is just my patch):

- xv->num_valuators = num_valuators;
+ xv->num_valuators = ((final_valuator - i) > 6) ? 6 : (final_valuator - i);

See http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=xorg/xserver.git;a=history;h=0229c0ac6a3d6b4665e5963053fb033c8210892a;hb=efa65a0317e12c9ad34fa00fe90bf5eae9fa2670;f=dix/getevents.c for details.

It's quite weird to see that the fix you're proposing hasn't made it to the server-1.4 branch, which the patch was made from.
