Reason for closing:  Implemented
Additional comments about closing:  I've updated pan to 0.132. I'll remove pan-devel from AUR.

Not sure if this is a valid request or not (the versioning looks weird, so that might make it valid). Eric, feel free to close this if it should just be flagged out of date.

I asked Martin to open this request. Here's what I wrote to him:

Actually, I don't use pan but the stable version dates from 2003. Maybe it'll be a good idea to switch to the devel version if it's stable as
you say. Please submit a feature request on the bug tracker so I can refer to it. I'll need to ask around and think about it.

This bug report will serve as a reminder for and to collect opinions (pros/cons). BTW, debian stable is using 0.119.

I have been using the betas almost every day for at least a year now. It is definetely stable enough to replace the old version. The beta has large improvements to speed and memory usage, making it a worthwhile upgrade.

I just checked and Debian is not the only distro who has switched to the devel versions. Slackware and Fedora are also using the devel releases. I'm now leaning toward using the devel release too.

I use pan daily and the devel version with the preview-patch is the only usable version if you use any binary groups. The last stable version can't handle large groups at all. The devel version with the preview-fix works great, I haven't had any problems. I would definitely replace the stable with the latest devel.
