Posibly problem in kernel itself:
See kernel changelog <http://kernelnewbies.org/LinuxChanges>:

The keyboard worked before, so I think someone tinkered too much with it :)

You should report this upstream. I am quite sure we will not (be able to) fix it.

Maybe worthless comment, but I can confirm with the same keyboard, except numlock doesn't fix it for me, I have to press F6. BTW this only happens in Xorg, so I'm not sure where it comes from, since it happened before the last days upgrades...

2.6.25 doesn't include the mactel patchset anymore. This patchset included mainly USB input devices and AC97 sound codecs used on Apple hardware, so this could be related.
Do you have this bug on the plaintext console also? Are you using evdev or the kbd driver in xorg? The evdev keyboard driver is known to be really broken.

If I find some time in the next days I'll try to patch it again and see if it's fixed, although in the console everything is fine. I have no explicit references to evdev or kbd in xorg.conf, but in Xorg.0.log only the latter gets loaded.

If I try on plaintext console, numlock just activates the numlock led on my laptop but has no effect on the function of the numpad. Other keys keep functioning normally in that situation. I am using kbd, no evdev loaded.

It looks like it's fixed with the latest kernel for me... can others confirm?

I can confirm this, works for me too.
