Description:

I see the same problem with this iso than all the other releases i have been trying.

So the problem is with the ftp-install method and especially the network configuration part. I have a static ip which has to be set manually (dns, qw, netmask etc)

Everytime I try to put those information and after insertin them in the installer it tries to start the eth0 device but failes (no error in sight)

Reason for closing:  Won't fix
Additional comments about closing:  Use ifconfig. I'm not going to write a gui interface for ifconfig.

Why can't you use ifconfig and skip the autodetection in the installer?

The x86_64 ftp 2008.04-rc iso worked fine for me with a static IP and i was able to install via ftp after a long time, on another PC though. There have been problems in the past though with my other two machines and even after talking in IRC with tpowa i could solve them. Despite the fact that i had a perfectly healthy network connection after the installation with the core isos running the kernel versions on the isos, i couldnt achieve installing via ftp for some reason
Maybe it would be wise to state your NIC model.
