DetailsI'm using XFCE as my main desktop, and K3B as burning app. The latter only depends on Qt and kdelibs, so I can integrate it nicely into XFCE without cluttering my desktop. Unfortunately, one half of its translation is included in k3b-i18n, the other half in kde-i18n-fr. I tried to install this, and it pulled in the whole load of kdebase. But kde-i18n-** packages don't strictly speaking depend on anything kdebase-like. Please correct this wrong assumption of the packager, as it makes using K3B on another desktop than KDE a hard job.

it was done that way because kdebase let you chose the language which should be used, all i18n packages depend on kdebase

In that case everything is right for KDE users. Users of other window managers who wish to use K3B (and there are quite some) are forced to install the whole kitchen sink of kdebase, or rebuild their kde-i18n-** package without this unneeded dependency. Not quite the KISS principle, but nevermind.

use pacman -Sd kde-i18n-fr and kdebase will not be installed, also not on updates
