The files in /usr/sbin (slapcat, slapadd, slapidx, etc) in the openldap package contains symlinks to the maintainer's buildtree:
slapcat -> /home/jvinet/arch/build/daemons/openldap/pkg//usr/sbin/slapd

Another thing we might want to make clear when upgrading from 2.1.x to 2.2.x:
The database files for slapd aren't compatible with the older version. the new version will mark the database as corrupted and won't work with it. it is required to use
/etc/rc.d/slapd stop
slapcat -l backup.ldif
<upgrade>
rm /var/lib/openldap/openldap-data/*
slapadd -l backup.ldif
/etc/rc.d/slapd start
