OVERVIEW -------- The file libgstossaudio.so is a 32bit library built for Ubuntu 7.10 to enable the Gnome Volume Applet to be used with oss version 4 & vmix. Although built for Ubuntu Gutsy I would expect it to work on other distributions that use gstreamer version 0.10 but it is only beta code so I make no guarantees. If you want to make improvements or hack the code for any changes required by your distribution the included patch file should be applied to "gst-plugins-good-0.10.6" sources. VERSION ------- v0.1 dated 8 JAN 2008 Chooses v4 API mixer in preference to v3 where both are present. Skips legacy controls present in v4 mixers as these could be fake controls presented by envy24ht driver. INSTALLATION ------------ To install as root: gzip /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstossaudio.so mv libgstossaudio.so /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/ Applet may restart automatically or display a window asking if you want to reload it (select reload). If neither happens and applet does not work, right click on it and select "remove From Panel" from displayed menu. It can be reloaded by right clicking on an empty area of the panel and selecting "Add to Panel" then double clicking on Volume control in "Add to Panel" window. REMOVAL ------- To remove as root: rm /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstossaudio.so gunzip /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstossaudio.so.gz
