Description:
When running xorg-server, version 1.4.0.90-8, opening menu in openoffice org causes crash of whole x server. Xorg runs on nvidia drivers (I don't know if that matters). The crash doesn't occur with 1.4.0.90-6 version.

Steps to reproduce:
1) make sure xorg 1.4.0.90-8 is running
2) run openoffice app (doesn't matter which one)
3) Click on File (or any other menu item which pop ups menu box)
4) see the crash

Yes, it happens on my machine, too.
I also have problems with xorg when logging out.

I downgraded to version 1.4.0.90-6 and everything works fine again. ;-)

OOo works fine for me in Xfce. do you use any compositor extension/compiz, what desktop?

I originally run xmonad, but same behavior occurs with standard gnome desktop.
I tested it today on laptop and version 1.4.0.90-8 works fine. There is an intel card on laptop and it is running recent xf86-video-intel driver. Maybe it is related to combination of nvidia driver and recent xorg-server. I've searched a web and I've had found similar trouble in debian:debian-x@lists.debian.org/msg75026.html"> http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-x@lists.debian.org/msg75026.html
It seems it is/was related to ATI drivers. However, I didn't inspect it in more detail.

Could you attach your xorg.conf so I can have a look at your keyboard configuration? OpenOffice does something with xkbcomp and triggers a bug in xorg-server. This bug is known upstream, but there's no response from X.Org devs yet. I'd like to reproduce this one, but I don't know what settings I have to make to trigger it.

Here is my one. It happens with "nvidia" driver, too.

The XkbModel option in your keyboard configuration triggers this crash in Xorg. I found a patch from Xorg 1.5 git which fixes this problem, I'll apply it in the next xorg-server update.
