Details

Since the upgade from kernel 2.6.23 to 2.6.24 the hotswap function for the ultrabay in my thinkpad notebook isn't working anymore.
With kernel 2.6.23 I could change between CD-ROM and second harddrive during a normal session. Since kernel 2.6.24 it isn't working anymore. When I try to remove my harddisk the system hangs, there is no operation possible any more. Even the keyboard frezzes.
I have loaded the following modules:
thinkpad_acpi
tp_smapi
thinkpad_ec
hdaps
bay
I build the tp_smapi my self out of the sources. I did the same with the kernel 2.6.23.

perhaps it just doesn't fit to the new kernel anymore?
building modules doesn't mean that they function afterwards if the kernel behaviour changed.

But I think I'm not the only one with a Thinkpad and an ultrabay using archlinux. So the bay module isn't working correctly anymore and I didn't build the bay module my self, there must be a problem with these module.
It also could be, that there is a change in acpid because hotswap uses acpid. See the page on thinkwiki:
