Description:
Include 'links' command line browser in /core repo as well as core installation iso. Additional info: 'links' is currently in /extra. It would be quite advantageous to be included in /core as well as on the live install iso, for the convenience of users in need of web resources from the base system. During my first installation of ArchLinux I encountered the issue
where I was forced to visit a weblogin page provided by my ISP in
order to gain Internet access. Prior to that I was unable to
utilize Pacman, leaving me with a rather stagnant system without
the ability to add or upgrade any packages.
Users without access to another PC or a printer, and who are
unable to print out wiki documentation would benefit greatly from
this. It will also expand the usefulness of the live environment
by including a cli browser on the iso by default.
on the iso links is already available, but not as package to
install, but this will change when it moves to core.
Thanks for the clarification, tpowa, I never realized that. -Jules
