FS#9109 - Blank screen on _cold_ boot with USB stick in pc

Details

Description:
After a cold boot grub normally appears on the screen to select Arch Linux.
Then when it tries to load the kernel26 I instantly end up with a black screen.
The problem disappears when I remove the USB stick from my pc.

The problem does not occur on reboot or when I reset my pc and the USB stick is still inside my pc.

could it be that your bios recognizes the stick as boot media and confuses the hd order for grub?
look for bios options like boot media or usb-legacy, this sounds pretty like an bios issue

Go to your BIOS (usually by pressing Del or F2 at BIOS prompt when your PC starts - see the bottom line of the screen for info).
Then in Boot section look for something like USB boot setting or USB device and disable it or move below HDD. (depends on your BIOS type).
