Below is the output when trying to install texlive-most on x86_64. Snowman responded to my thread post with "I guess (not tested) the .install files should use the full path: opt/texlive/bin/texconfig-sys instead of texconfig-sys", and suggested I file a bug report. Additional comments about closing: This will be fixed in the next release (TeXLive 2008), in which we'll move from /opt to /usr.

Is that an issue? I couldn't really test right now because I'm not on broadband at the moment.
A workaround is to install texlive-core first, then the group texlive-most...
@Jens: texlive-bin was until a few minutes ago a dependency of texlive-*-svn packages only.
Now it is a shared dependency of both branches ("stable" and "svn") :-)
