nothing currently tells users about the changes to the default install. that they need to install the base-devel group before building packages. or to put its another way: all pkgbuilds are currently missing "base-devel" in makedepends. Steps to reproduce: 1. clean install 2. follow the install guide, makepkg man page, abs wiki page 3. run makepkg 4. read errors for missing build tools previous discussion on pacman-dev: http://archlinux.org/pipermail/pacman-dev/2007-November/009864.html attached is an install guide patch. |
