Description:
New xorg-server tries to utilize the features of dbus and hal for hardware autodetection, if they were found installed in system. Unfortunately, due to lack of maintainer, xorg-server makefiles and sources are broken. This can be fixed with a patch, that is present in freedesktop mailing lists. Additional info: * package version(s): xorg-server 1.4-4 * config and/or log files etc.: see http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xorg/2007-September/027933.html * page, where the patch was found: http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xorg/2007-September/027935.html Steps to reproduce: Install dbus and hal, then try to build xorg-server. |

BTW, it'd be nice, if you enable build of xorgcfg. This utility is very handy.
So I guess using --disable-config-hal would only make it explicit, so that it's still possible to build xorg-server
on a system where hal is installed.
But I wonder if the 1.4.0.90 version couldn't have fixed this problem.
I didn't check yet.
In any cases, this bug is fixed and can be closed now.
While I use xorg-server built with hal support I can report that I don't have problems at all.
