pulseaudio is a community pkg. i cannot build mpd (extra) against a community pkg.

find a dev, who knows what pulseaudio is and who is maintaining it in extra or i can move mpd to community - however, then you have to find a TU to maintain it.

PulseAudio 0.9.7 has been released a few days ago and it looks like a solid replacement candidate for esd. I'll have a look at pulseaudio somewhere next week.

From MPD Wiki - PulseAudio

For Distros where PulseAudio output is Broken

As PulseAudio is a ESD replacement, the ESD plugin can work in cases where PulseAudio support is missing or broken. First remove the MPD PulseAudio setting. Configure MPD to use esd as shown, this assumes that MPD and PulseAudio are running on the same system.

audio_output {
type "ao"
driver "esd"
options "host=127.0.0.1:16001"
name "esd"
}

Jan, do you plan to include pulseaudio now to [extra]?

i'm going to release mpd 0.13.1 soon... should i consider it now or are we doing this later?
Comment by Jan de Groot (JGC) - Sunday, 03 February 2008, 13:09 GMT
I'm not having plans to release it to extra within a week, pulseAudio is quite complicated and I have a lot of other things to do at this moment.

Looks like pulseaudio is still in community, and mpd is in extra, so it would seem the first comment still applies.
