Description:

The UK mirror is broken and has apparently been so for a while.
I have asked the UK mirror service at the University of Kent if they would be able to host a new mirror.
If they and everyone else are ok with it then it might be useful if they were made the official UK mirror for Arch.
Don't want to jump the gun or anything, but they are well known and reliable, and the UK mirror does need replacing.

Any thoughts?

Steps to reproduce:

Check UK mirror!

The new mirror is up at:

http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/ftp.archlinux.org/

Can we add this to the official lists?

Cheers

Added.
For our internal records, we need the following information before I can close the ticket.

1. The protocols available to end users (ftp/http/rsync).
2. The resulting http/ftp/rsync urls that end users can use.
3. The general bandwidth availability of the server/site.
4. Space available on the server for the arch mirror.
5. email address of the point of contact for mirror.
6. Expected sync times. (We recommend sync'ing once a day).

Please email me the information at eliott at archlinux.org

Also please delete the stale http://ftp.parrswood.manchester.sch.uk/Mirrors/ftp.archlinux.org/ from the pacman package - it is still present in pacman-3.0.6-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz

Eliott, is this closable? Did you get what you need?
Comment by eliott (cactus) - Tuesday, 04 December 2007, 17:47 GMT
I don't think I got the info I requested, but lets just punt forever on it.
Closing the ticket. No need to leave it open any longer.
