This is repost of task #7924. This is a proof that other people has same problem: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=286008#p286008 After update to xf86-video-ati-6.7.192 (then 6.7.194), X starts in very high resolution, it ignores /etc/X11/xorg.conf settings. xrandr -q output: Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 1024, maximum 1600 x 1200 VGA-0 connected 1280x1024+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 315mm x 236mm 1280x1024 85.0*+ 84.8 75.0 1600x1200 75.0 1280x960 84.9 1152x864 75.0 74.8 1024x768 84.9 75.1 70.1 60.0 43.5 832x624 74.6 800x600 84.9 72.2 75.0 60.3 56.2 640x480 84.6 75.0 72.8 66.7 60.0 720x400 87.8 70.1 DVI-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) S-video disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) It should be 1024x768 only.
