I see that the PKGBUILD for Avahi deliberatelly disables the
building of avahi-autoipd, the daemon tha configures an
local-link IP address.
Why is that?... This daemon can be quite usefull, and it doesn't do harm if it's enabled. |

- Task reassigned to Travis Willard (Cerebral), Jan de Groot (JGC)
I'll look into this - I adopted this package as an orphan, and it
seems JGC was the one who originally disabled support for it quite
a while ago. I'll bug him to see why.
I've talked with JGC and it seems he doesn't have any objections
to enabling it. I'll turn it on and play around a bit, then
probably upload a new pkg in the next couple of days
I've been waiting on the new avahi to include this, but it's
dependent on the development dbus which doesn't seem to be moving
to stable any time soon, and hence won't be moving into our repos
until that time. I think I'll just rebuild the current avahi
version to have this change, and post it tonight.
Aw crap - we're currently working on getting qt4 into the repos,
and as such I can't touch avahi at the moment. I'll try to get
autoipd into the version being rebuilt against our newly-coming
qt3 package.
OK, the version of avahi built against qt4, currently in testing,
has autoipd enabled.
