Description:
after upgrading to pidgin 2.0.2, bold text in message windows do not work anymore. user names should be in bold, and are not, and I can not type bold text anymore.

i tried running pidgin as a user who had not run it before, so as to eliminate any config incompatibilities. i also logged in to #pidgin on irc to find out if this is an upstream problem. devs there had no problems. they helped me try a few things to narrow down the problem, (theme changes, font settings, etc)

i tried downgrading to 2.0.1, the problem disappears. building 2.0.2 myself results in the same problem.

i am running arch up to date, with testing packages installed. perhaps the problem lies there?

I can confirm this behaviour.

Interesting. It looks like I don't see buddy names in chat windows being bolded, and in addition, I cannot use underline, italics, or bold when typing a message. The font face and color settings seem to work fine, however.

I'm not really sure where to look on this one, as I would have expected the font face and color to not be working either.

i confirm this bug but is not specific with this version. i compiled 2.0.1 and the problem doesn't disappear. i think that another package is broken but i don't know witch one. I attached a list, maybe you can managed to discover the problem

I can confirm this as well.

i noticed there is a new version of libxfont in the repos, and as this problem is font related, i decided to try rebuilding pidgin today. bold, italic, and underlined fonts now work again!

can't say for sure if libxfont is the culprit, but nevertheless, we simply need to build and release pidgin 2.0.2-2.

Good catch! I just rebuilt and put it in the repos, and the fonts are working fine for me again as well. I thought it wasn't specifically in the pidgin package.
